Daniel Guinchard’s ROKiT F4 British Championship certified by FIA campaign takes him next to Brands Hatch’s Indy circuit this weekend [6-7 May].
The Chris Dittmann Racing ace was unlucky to only have a solitary podium finish to show for his efforts at the Donington Park season opener a fortnight ago, the tricky weather conditions and contact from other cars hampering his results across the triple header.
But refreshed, and ready to begin the fight back, the 16-year-old from London, UK makes the journey to the 1.2-mile Kent circuit looking for an immediate response to claim back lost ground in the championship race.
It’s also a venue with fond memories for Guinchard. The Indy circuit yielded consistent, points-scoring form in his debut season last year, with Daniel also scoring a fifth career podium later in the same campaign on the GP loop.
Situated in something of a natural amphitheatre in Kent, the self-proclaimed ‘Garden of England’, the short, sharp nature of the Indy configuration lends itself to great racing, with the entire field often separated by mere tenths in qualifying.
And that session, at 10:25 (BST) on Saturday, will likely set the tone for the weekend in an ultra-competitive championship populated by the motorsport stars of tomorrow. Following that, Guinchard will line up for three races, at 13:40 on Saturday, then 10:25 and 15:10 on Sunday.
Sunday’s action will be live and free-to-air for viewers in the UK on ITV4.
Daniel Guinchard said:
“I’m really looking forward to Brands Hatch this weekend. We’ve had really strong pace all winter and didn’t quite get the chance to showcase that at Donington with a few unlucky results.
“But I’m in a good place, and the team are all very excited to get to Brands Hatch and bounce back. Hopefully we can get good points across all three races, and really launch our championship challenge off the back of it.”
